Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival is on ….. and the girls are getting agog with their fabulous and not sooo fab hats!
Well, the most attractive, creative, colorful, distinct and even ugliest/funniets hats and their wearers get the nation’s attention and awards during these days.
This year, just as a kicker, what inspires and will outshine all the other’s hats is that fabulous hat above which is only worth a whooping $ 1M!
Modelled by Lindy Klim (herself a Balinese princess), and wife of Michael Klim (the swimmer), this $ 1 million hat was designed by famous milliner Serena Lindeman. It features 130 carats of cushion and brilliant cut diamonds, 70 carats of precious coloured gemstones, and white and gold South Sea pearls.
I just thought that this hat if sold and donated for a charitable auction could fetch to 34 million Philippine Pesos (if donated to the Philippines) and could build around 3,400 houses for the poor and homeless (if a house of the Gawad Kalinga cost 10k to build). Imagine that!
I love the look of that hat though, reminds me of Audrey Hepburn’s in those old old movies.
Anyway, back to the funny hat business. I really found the following hats really funny and girls who wears them really look stupid !!!
Hey look, I wear a stupid hat that resembles a chocolate ice cream frappe and I look stupid as well, ha, ha, ha! (In fairness, this hat is not that bad at all) !!! Isn’t it???
Now, I am wearing a button inspired hat !!! That’s what you call cheeky fashion as it covers my whole face as well!!! wahaha,ha,ha!!! Don’t even have to wear some make up at all ! Perfect for the ugly fuglies !!!
Hey, look at the fake butterflies !!! Should have added more frightening insects like bees spiders, tarantulas, and and moths to give that extra terrestrial effects !!! And how about real fruits like bananas, apples and grapes to the fruit bowl so we can eat them afterwards.
Now this what you call somewhat artistically over the top, something like that Rose Porteous – a nutty Filipina woman would love to wear !
The following hats that I found in a weekly magazine are really hideous as they make the girls who wear them really look soo stupid !!!

hats are really so English. The ladies often wear them on formal occasions. I still remember the hat worn by Camilla Bowles when she got married to Prince Charles- pranag walis tingting! lol
My mother loves to wear her hats acquired in NYC, especially when attending weddings and funerals here in Manila. Although not as fancy as these that you featured, even a simple hat makes an old woman like my mother look somewhat elegant and regal. I wonder why hats never really caught on with our local ladies.
