These are some of the photos of the Gawad Kalinga Concert. I also voluntered as the concert make up artist, aside from doing the slideshow. It was really fun as I have to do the make up and hair of ten girls and two boys (Master of Ceremonies, 3 singers and the curent Miss GK) in two hours !!! Can you imagine?
Anyway, this local concert just proves my faith and belief in the Filipinos as natural artists and people with really good hearts !!!

What a great organization to be involved with! I’d love to see photos of your makeup work on the performers (although they look great from afar)
Ricky Reyes and role ng bruha! I thought you did the Xanadu number. Sayang ang talent mo neneng!
Yey!
It’s good to hear that the concert went well Jase.
And I have to agree that Filipinos are naturals when it comes to arts … Honestly from my heart! Of course, they are really, really nice people too!
(:
Wow! That concert looks amazing…glad things went well!
I went to a talent show that showcased Korean talent once (I’m Korean), called Kollaboration. It was all about breaking down the stereotype of “quiet, unassuming Asians,” and remember feeling very proud and totally blown away!
Well, Jase, I think all people in general are artists and people with really good hearts. It’s just a matter of environment and the way they are brought up, you know?
@ GIGI
Yeah for sure, I will post some of the photos of the girls before and after my make-over session. I think they really look good. It was a show/concert makeup so I purposely made it stronger to counter the very strong colored lights on the stage. YOu should get involved with GK in the US. I think they have already established this in LA.
@ LYKA
Correct ka jan! It was really like RR episodes and the girls all love me! I think I should really pursue this dream of becoming a full pledged professional makeup artist to the stars. I love it!
@ KYELS
I love you for saying this. But really Filipinos are generally loving, caring and gracious people. Apart from all our failings, I think our people should rank as one of the most well balanced culture in the world !
@ SHELLS
It is really good to get involved organizations and activities that promote cultural awareness. It affirms who you are and what your role in the world is. Gives you direction and purpose.
@ DAVID
Well David, I would like to believe so. But in our case, I just would like to promote the Filipino and the Asian culture as it has been always portrayed as a sub-culture and even inferior to other races. Which is not the case!
Jase,
I really think Filipinos are nice people. I’ve never met such good natured people before and meeting you guys are just awesome!
(:
indeed, we are a naturally beautiful people, jase ~ inside and out.
@ KYELS
Thank you. You are so gracious as well!
@ VINA

Well done

i don’t want to think of it too much sis, masakit sa ulo. bahala na.

wow! i was invited to attend this concert but unfortunately couldn’t make it.
it looked like a lot of fun. i could have run into you!
What a great (and aesthetic) way of serving, kapatid.
I agree with you that the Philippines can be a Tiger country if we’d keep blogging about it. Hehe!

[...] weekend, the Gawad Kalinga in Melbourne (see my previous entries last year) had its annual Presentation and Coronation of this year’s Miss Gawad Kalinga of Australia. [...]
The 1st Gawad Kalinga Global Summit held at Boston last June 12-14 is a big and a historic success! There are almost almost 700 delegates from the US, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Columbia and the Philippines who joined the event. This is a very good news to everyone!
