MISS GAY EXOTICA – MELBOURNE 2007

 

Last beautiful Friday,  August 3, 2007,  I joined a gay beauty pageant held in one of the Filipino venues in Melbourne.   Actually it is a giant Karaoke Bar, with disco dance space and pinoy food, owned and operated by pinoys in the city. Reportedly, the first of its kind and participated by the leading pinoy drag queens in the city.  The three titles at stake and the winners were:

MISS GAY EXOTICA – UNIVERSE  

JASMINE RICE MACAPAGAL ARROYO

MISS GAY EXOTICA – WORLD  

 MARIA MARGARITA JHAYA DIAZ MORAN

(representing Davao City, yours truly, Miss Congeniality)

MISS GAY EXOTICA – INTERNATIONAL

GABRIELLE POCA HONTAS DE ORO

(representing Cagayan de Oro City, Best in Casual Wear)

  

FIRST RUNNER UP

TIA MARIA POKWANG DE PATARANTA

(Representing Metro Manila)

SECOND RUNNER UP

IMEE ”MIK-MIK” MERCOS MAY-PUTOC 

(Representing Ilo-ilo City and Ilocos Provinces)

 

Honestly, this is the first time I joined a beauty contest and I thought that I should join ONLY for fun and experience.   As I have mentioned in my previous entries,  I am a super late bloomer in the field of gaynesses and only for the last two years that I fully explored the world of drag and cross dressing –  to satiate my longings and needs to express my inborn femininity that was never lost in translation. My best drag friend Jasmine, from the beautiful city of Cebu, who for the past months had  been my mentor in all of these ‘kabaklaan’ encouraged me to join.  Wagi ang mga bading.  I was not even expecting to win the major title.   Having done some drag performance somehow prepared me for this pageant.  I did not have a hard time preparing for the makeup,  costume,  dresses, blings, etc.  And I really felt like a natural woman – mataba nga lang   

And the winners are ….

I know I have to improve a lot in my evening gown and do a general repackage of my image and projection.   More ladylike and feminine.  More slits in the evening gowns.  Goodbye to ugliness and dreadful drag make up.

I have to shed heaps of fats as well, especially in my arms, face and body…  and how should I do that ???  No idea

But it was really fun and I am proud that I won despite the fact that I have not joined any of these pageants before.   I should really have started when I was only ten (wishful thinking) 

The other girls are all experienced catwalkers and allegedly beauty holders in their previous lives in the sitios, villages and barangay they originally bloom from.  And there is sooo much to catch up !!!  And get updated.

But at least we were a bunch of cooperative and loving gay-girls.  We helped each other while we were undressing and crossdressing.  And I think this is where friendship of a different dimension emerges, as well.   There were just a slightest hint of bitchiness and okrayans but we were more of the nice types.

Jasmine winning the Best in National Costume.  I love her straight laced sequined purple Maria Clara dress with feathered headress!

  But Gabby’s creation was very exotic.  She used peacock feathers in her dress and I thought she would win.

Casual Wear

Me and my hubby – opps, my fake boobs were showing again !!!  I was wearing my GASP’s casual dress !  It was a sexy little modern number and one of my favorites!
