WHO IS CHANEL MADRIGAL ???

12 11 2007

Chanel Madrigal is Philippines’ contestant and 2nd runner up to the recently concluded Miss International Queen 2007 at Pattaya Thailand, where Patricia Montecarlo won the second place last year!

But who is Chanel Madrigal?  The following you tube Video of her talent (live singing and dancing)  says a lot but we need more …

We need more info.  Age, Stats, Bio, etc.  No one knows and no one cares?   I searched the internet but nothing came up except some minute info and photos.

This year - we sent four contestants, but there seems to be no organizer from the Philippines taking care of our contingent, like we even don’t know the names of our contestants!

Unlike in Thai, where in the first place the contest is being held every year, the Amazing Beauties of the Philippines need more support from us and the government, I think.

Out next year’s contestant would be Kris Andrea Dawn Barrameda – this year’s Amazing Beauty Winner!

Good luck to Kris Barrameda!  (No publicity ads as well for her?)

I know we have been sending our best ”girls”  - but I think Miss International Queen is an elusive crown to get!

I am also greatly interested to know what really transpired on the pageant as one news article suggested the following:

“The crowd, consisting of mostly Thais and the occasional bewildered tourist, cheered loudly for the homegrown favourite but were upstaged by feverish, flag-waving Filipinos who supported four of their compatriots.”

I am intrigued by “feverish, flag waving Filipinos”.  Being the underdogs, of course, they have to be overzealous in their support, I agree!

For now, we have to be content with runners up!

MABUHAY !!!

Smiling is one of the best techniques to win friends. But for Kris Andrea Dawn Barrameda, his charming smile became his tool to stand out from the rest of the pack and eventually win a beauty title!

The 22-year-old business management major at Siliman University, in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, succeeded the throne of Patricia Montecarlo as Miss Amazing Philippine Beauty 2007, in a three-hour pageant held at the Manila Film Center last Oct. 19.

Phoemela Baranda

Barrameda, who has a striking resemblance to Phoemela Baranda (above) —the recipient of Amazing Smile and Best in Swimsuit awards—beat 23 other hopefuls, including first runner-up Miles Gio, 23, a crowd favorite who was voted Miss Friendship and adjudged Best in Evening Gown; second runner-up Angel Herrera, an 18-year-old stunner from Caloocan City; third runner-up Mona Gonzales, an 18-year-old dead-ringer for 2005 Miss International Precious Lara Quigaman, named Best in Talent; and fourth runner-up Mikee Coloma, a 22-year-old Davaoeño. The top five finalists were adjudged based on beauty of face, 60 percent, and intelligence, 40 percent.

Rounding up the top 10 finalists were Beth Imperial, People’s Choice awardee Joyce Azarcon, Miss Fashionista Joanna Santos, Ayumi Lopez, and Angelica Cruz Ilustre—who were chosen based on beauty of face, 60 percent, and figure, 40 percent; completing the 15 semifinalists were Cynthia Soliven, Kimberly Hernandez, Asyana Zulueta, Hershey Marie Francisco and 2005 Miss Universe Most Photogenic Gionna Cabrera look-alike Erika Louise Peralta, the tallest candidate standing at 5’11″, who bagged the Best in National Costume award. Miss Photogenic winner Channa Mendez failed to make the cut.

The judging panel included Cultural Center of the Philippines president Nestor Jardin, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay president Yolanda Cruz, Duty Free Philippines marketing program head Ronald Miguel Fernando, Metropolitan Museum director Eric Babar Zerrudo, SEAIR vice president for commercial affairs Patrick Tan, Adajar Dental Services marketing and finance manager Sonny Novales, Superferry group sales manager Mark Hilario, stage actor RS Francisco, “Master Showman” German Moreno, renowned fashion designer Renee Salud and Amazing Philippine Theater vice president Casie Villarosa.

The grandiose event was hosted by Jackielou Blanco and John Nite. Luke Mejares rendered heartwarming performances despite of having high fever that night. He received thunderous applause from the audience when he remarked that he was stunned by the beauty of this year’s entrants.

Getting better on its fifth year

Amazing Philippine Theater looks for the most beautiful transvestite and transgender in town to be employed with the company and be part of their Amazing Show. The first and biggest theatrical variety show in the country, established on Aug. 15, 2001, showcases the best of Filipino gay talents, featuring Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Broadway, musicals, comedy acts, modern dances, Filipino folk and stylized traditional dances.

“We’ve made great strides toward this pageant and other goals since the day we’ve decided that we will keep this family together for the long haul. I vow that the Amazing Philippine Theater Family will continue to be guided by a passion for bringing you the best in the field of entertainment—for doing the right thing, and for reaching those who seek what this beautiful country and its people has to offer,” said Iron Chang, the theater’s president.

The objectives of Amazing Philippine Beauties are to uplift all the appalling impressions of gay beauty pageants; give opportunities for the transvestites and transgender to showcase their beauty and talent, be employed as a performer to enhance their personality and contribute to the quality of the theater’s performances in the aspect of cultural entertainment to match the discriminating tastes of many tourists; to be accepted by the society as a productive individual; build friendship and camaraderie; and rekindle the lost flame of fame and reputation that Manila Film Center used to have.

Previous Miss Amazing Philippine Beauty titleholders include Sarah Trono (2003), Kaori Michelle Artadi (2004) and Ardee Cansino (2005). Statuesque Montecarlo placed first runner-up to Ericka Andrew of Mexico in the Miss International Queen contest held in Pattaya, Thailand, last year. His top-two finish was the Philippines’ highest placement in that three-year-old global search for transvestites.

The crowned beauty

“If you would give Amazing Philippine Theater a tagline, what will it be and why?”—this was the final question asked to the five finalists.

“Go nuts or go amazed… [because] if you’re just at home, you’d go nuts [or would just get bored]… but if you’d spend a night here [at Amazing Philippine Theater] to watch some shows, you’d be amazed by the wonderful performances!” was Barrameda’s winning answer.

When asked what Barrameda would do the next day, he said: “I’d [definitely] wake up with a big smile on my face… and have a breakfast in bed (he giggles)!”

He considers actress and 1993 Miss World second princess Ruffa Gutierrez his role model “to do well in this competition. She’s my idol, and I love to watch her on TV.” He also revealed that he is single at the moment—and very much available!

Barrameda said he will do his best to equal, if not surpass, the feat of his predecessor in the Miss International Queen tilt, whose venue and date will be announced by the Amazing Philippine Theater very soon.

AND AS USUAL, MABUHAY !!!

she is a a dear friend, humble and a god fearing person. her mother died few years ago,and then on she supports her family, most especially her 2 sisters.

ive known her for so long. we belong to one manager, make up artist and the founder of MADRIGAL CIRCLE OF BEAUTIES – ms.nhoy.

truly, chanel or cha-cha as we called her, is one of the philippines finest gays.we supported them, together with rain marie madrigal, also our sister in this years pageant. we are the filipinos who waved flag during the pageant night.we travel at our own money just to support our dear sisters. though we dont recieve any support from our government financially, i know, that the filipino community supported them in prayers and in internet voting. and rain marie made it to be the ripleys winner. next year, the MCB will send again another beauty queen from our group. visit http://www.friendster.com and search MADRIGAL CIRCLE OF BEAUTIES.
