There is Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss World.
And then we also have Miss Earth Pageant which just happened recently in Manila, Philippines.
Started in 1991, the focus of this pageant is to advance the ideals of preserving Mother Earth. Very down-to-earth (read: very alternative) – and obviously with down-to-earth budget as well, suprisingly this pageant is now gaining popularity!
What I like about this pageant is the “down-to-earth” concept as in they come up with the following questions for instance:
The Final 4 Question:
“How will you describe the beauty of Mother Nature to a blind child?”Spain – “it’s the wonderful feeling of smelling and feeling the cascading river.”India – “i like him to feel the color of Mother Earth, the beauty of sunset and the blue ocean”
Venezuela – “i will make him lie down to feel the earth, to feel love with nature.”
Canada – “Nature smells as sweet as the rose, soft as the softest leaves, to hear the singing of birds in the trees.”
B – E – A – U – T – I – F – U – L !!!
It is attracting fabulous and not so fabulous contestants from all over the world, as you cas see below
Just remember, beauty is in the eyes of he beholder!
Now, I don’t wanna be mean but this girl looks like she came directly from a comic book - like she’s the vagabond daughter of or a jester friend of Pocahontas! Whatever, but she looks like she is really having a great time in this costume! I’d definitely rate her 8 out 10 to become Miss Earth! She looks like baby Earth to me!
Wow, this one is definitely from that Tina Turner movie with Mel Gibson – MADMAX?? I don’t even know where Cameroon is, but people out there are really into recycling used potatoe sacks and making them into fabulous costumes like this. 6 out 10 to become Miss Mother Earth!
She definitely have that nice drag queen looks – she is even wearing a drag queen’s stilleto! The mix of colors (brown, blue, orange and neon green) are just sooo Bahamas! I believe, she should be a runner up!
Miss Niue Island (maybe some small island in the Pacific), is definitely a hot Mama! Should be given Miss Rain or Fire award!
OMG! Miss Kazakhstan definitely rocks! Ice girl meets Santa Claus looks!
I definitely go for this girl to become MISS EARTH 2007. I don’t even know what country she represents – but she is the epitome of MOTHER EARTH!
Now, we know that Miss Canada won in the contest, but I honestly think Miss Earth should redefine (upgrade) the meaning of beauty and should have crowned instead any of the above participants
Honestly ….
I do love the national costume of Miss Philippines below. And take note, being conceptualized, sponsored and held in the Philippines, during its seven or four years now of giving the crown, Philippines has not been crowned ever (or being on the top three ???).
Clearly, there is no favoritism being played around here! Unlike in other pageants which are becoming very political and losing their integrity, this one is really working the opposite! I am even suspecting that they so avoid giving our contestant an award – to avoid the “rigging” suspicions. But how about if she really deserves it ???
Like our contestant this year ?
This is a winning costume !!! Very Miss Earth indeed!
And again …. MABUHAY !!!

I like that Ice Girl outfit…it reminds me of my friend Hadassah, who was an Eskimo Snow Princess for Halloween this past year. But she was way hotter…
Ha,ha,ha…
David, that is Miss Kazakshtan – my favorite of them all!!!! She really has that winning personality!
Just gotta love the winning costume. It’s really unique.
