Posted: November 17, 2008 in About Life

Here are some fabulous traditional costumes worn by candidates for the Ms Turismo Pilipina 2008 Pageant.

aklan

“Beautiful innovation and modern interpretation of the Filipina dress and costumes.”  Feather duster and walis …. modern version of a beautiful cleaning lady :)

zambales

This is a muslim inspired dress… simply stunning and elegant !!!

I love this…. made of “banig”, woven mats from abaca (banana).  Unique and fabulous rendetion of the Spanish Maria Clara Dress with matching head piece and cute umbrella.  May gown ka na may banig ka pa!  Wagi ang Antique!

Photobucket

Beautiful color combination…. and the yellow colored shells made this really special.

Photobucket

A little bit garish and the windmill flower stand should definitely go … Not sure what kind of natural resources this dress is made from…. maybe some banana or coconut leaves???

Photobucket

Not very sure of this… but if worn by a taller girl, this should really look fabulous!  She really looks a little bit short …

Photobucket

Made of dried pandan leaves … very original!  Must be a little bit heavy to wear though.  This reminded me of picture frames… or wood lacqured floor tiles…

Photobucket

I like the color green … but this one looks too dark.   Dress seems be lacking something …. maybe it needs some ironing …. :)

aurora

Hmmmm… light beautiful mango green, and the material is made from locally produced material…

Photobucket

This is classic and in white … perfect for this candidate

Photobucket

I love this costume…  I could wear it myself !!! :)

Photobucket

This is simply fabulous…  with a touch of something indigenous this gown is indeed extraordinary.  And yellow has never been this beautiful!

Photobucket

I love the headress…

Photobucket

Red, orange and gold ensemble … very dramatic!

Photobucket

I believe this is a winner !!! …. pang vogue and drama ng Ate from Romblon …

The following gown though is an exact copy of the gown used by our Miss Universe contestant – Jennifer Barrientos – in fuschia pink!  What happened witht he sleeves – they look too big!  And then ang daming butterflies …. kainezzzz!

valenzuela

And then this gurl from Davao del Norte – OMG! She looks authentic Bagobo or Mandaya, not sure!

Luluwa ang mata nyo with the talent of whoever designed these dresses because they are absolutely divaness to the maximum level. Check out the sample of what I’m talking about below. That’s Antique. Ang gown banig. Lahat banig. Pag ang kamison nya banig pa rin, di ba makati yon? Hahaha! You want to see more? Head over to this site. MS TURISMO PILIPINA 2008: [...]

If I should have been a judge I surely have chosen: Antique-napakaunique. sino ba naman ang makakaisip na ang banig kahit na magaspang pweding maging gown, also mountain provice, bataan, romblon at laguna. Maggaling ang mga nagisip ng materials nila at concepto ng design.
