FABULOUSNESS … with a PURPOSE!

18 06 2008

OMG !!!  I have been searching for old photos and could not find any from my files … so I asked my friends and look what I have found !!!  This was sent by my best friend who saved all my photos in his laptop.  I could not believe I totally forgot about this one taken in 1999 or 2000??  (could not remember) Pride March in Melbourne.  This photo ended up in the local gay newspaper.

Historically, this was my first ever public gay event and someone dared me to do drag and be the Safe Sex Slut and distribute condoms to people during the march as part of the awareness program of the Aids Council of Victoria - and I did!!!  Kalurkah Valdez!  I have to buy my first evah wiggaloo, some sexy black dress, and stockings from the Op Shop…. Excited ang geygah!  And I wanted to look like a young Lorna T yata so I had that black beauty spot on top of my lips … Emote, emote!  And the photographer made me sit on top of the PFLAG.  More Emote !!! Pang centerfold ng playboy ang pose, emote !!! Flash, flash!

And yes, I was still dalagita (single gurl) at that time… slutty and free :)

Funny me.  First time to wear high heels and lashes - but I did really enjoy the march and at the same time helped AIDS’ awareness program in Australia.  Ang gu-guapo pa ng mga escorts ko!

And that’s me… Beauty (or Beast) with a Purpose :) , Charing!!!

OOOOPPSSSS, I DID IT AGAIN !!!

I lab this …

And this

And this …

And ohhhh, definitely … this!

As pink is my color!

“But can I really wear these killers, look glam and still able to dance and charm the audience ???? Baka sa sobrang bigat ng wig/headress, juk-ap at kuning-kuning, ay bigla akong ma out of valance, mahandusay at pulutin na lang sa putikan…?

Well, I have seen some Drag Queens dancing to high heavens with these shoes on!  Vongga ang mga gagah… Kung carry nila, carry ko rin… dieva???

But I doubt that I can at time… not confident enough ang Lola!!! But this fact, does not stop me from collecting some of these glamazon heels!  Drag Queens should have at least one or two of these, if they want to be called DQ at all !!!  Aside from big eyelashes, 7 inches stilletos are Drag Queen accesory must haves. Charing !!!”

One of these days, I shall write something about DO’s and DON’Ts in doing Drag Performances!!!  Promise :)

A few experience out there has taught me a lot - - - and one of these is -  > choosing comfort before looks!

Alhough drag is the art of high campness exaggeration - when one is performing on stage, one should opt to make it simple in order to be effective - like wearing comfortable shoes that enable you to dance, move around and do whatever you want to do with ease and elegance.  High heeled shoes are for socializing after the shows, so you look taller than most men and gays and everyone looks up at you!

And me obviously in love with those heels, and wanting to look ultra fab glamourous and five feet taller always insist on using those high heeled drag shoes (above!!!), inspite of my bad experiences.

The fact is that my feet won’t hold those hot heels like pair of horses, and I suffer from pain the following day.  I tell myself, I definitely need more practice and control, so at home while cooking and vacuuming, I wear those heels ….

Those killer heels, if you don’t know how to handle them,  will surely bring you to heaven or hell in seconds … whichever way you look at it!

Last night, I did it again!

After knowing from previous shows that those 7 inches high heels are not good for me -  I was still tempted to wear one of my cherished collections - and hell right, while doing my routine, my upper legs went frozen in control and my knees were woobling like a 70 year old nana in drag. Thanks heavens, I did not somersault like Ironman.  I just looked stupid.  I panicked on stage and lost track of where I am and what I am doing … and with those killer heels, I made a total drag queen of myself :)

But still I love this …
