TAKE A BOW

14 08 2007

My favorite blog ever - the Las Tres Estrellas - just got their first year anniversary celebration as a gay blog recently and I am so elated to have stumbled on this site of extra glamorous and funny gay guys who know how to make you die laughing!

Viva Las Tres Estrellas and the fan club!

And so in response to Lyka Bergen’s  (see her pretty profile) latest post:

First Q:  Favorite Madonna Song

The first song that comes to mind - if asked what is my favorite Madonna song - would always be - TAKE A BOW of Bedtime Stories fame.

Maybe because it so romantic, dramatic, and somehow reflective of life as a stage and we being performers of all sorts.   How we should take every moment of it as an opportunity to express our humanity in the arena of life (Chika!, what am I babbling about ???).

Anyway,  this is the first song ever, that I used to perform in drag infront of my friends (in our flat) way back my Middle Eastern years in the late 90’s.

It was so much fun back then, since I improvised on my costume!  And I was carrying my luggage like I was going home to the Philippines.

This was my song of goodbye to my first boyfriend as well.  A Turkish guy who was a cross between Kevin Costner (The Bodyguard) and Clarke Gable (Gone with the Wind).  So I was undecided whether I should be Vivien Leigh or Whitney Houston!  :)  But then the song was Madonna - so I should be Madzkie!

Well, here is my break away song!  Enjoy!

Take A Bow

written by Babyface and Madonna

Take a bow, the night is over
This masquerade is getting older
Light are low, the curtains down
There’s no one here
[There's no one here, there's no one in the crowd]
Say your lines but do you feel them
Do you mean what you say when there’s no one around [no one around]
Watching you, watching me, one lonely star
[One lonely star you don't know who you are]

Chorus:

I’ve always been in love with you [always with you]
I guess you’ve always known it’s true [you know it's true]
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye

Make them laugh, it comes so easy
When you get to the part
Where you’re breaking my heart [breaking my heart]
Hide behind your smile, all the world loves a clown
[Just make 'em smile the whole world loves a clown]
Wish you well, I cannot stay
You deserve an award for the role that you played [role that you played]
No more masquerade, you’re one lonely star
[One lonely star and you don't know who you are]

(chorus, repeat)

Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye

All the world is a stage [world is a stage]
And everyone has their part [has their part]
But how was I to know which way the story’d go
How was I to know you’d break
[You'd break, you'd break, you'd break]
You’d break my heart

I’ve always been in love with you
[I've always been in love with you]
Guess you’ve always known
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

(chorus)

Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye
Say good-bye

(A photo of current street posters)

I was listening to the Joy FM Radio last weekend and there was a queer voice interview with the party goers in Q&A - a gay and lesbian pub in Melbourne.

The question was :  How gay are you ?

Some said they are 70%, 80%, 99.9%.  And everyone came up with their bloody percentages !

I thought would you really know how much percentage of being gay, lesbian or straight is there in your system/body/mind/life/orientation?

When you are sure you are gay, would you really know if you could bent it out to the other camp - straight bear once in a while?

Well I thought about the question and my answer to this question would be:

I’m 120 % gay and 20% lesbian.  :)

What do you think ???

How about you ???
