A LITTLE BIT OF PAIN GOES A LONG LONG WAY!

11 12 2006

Saturday 34 degrees,  Sunday 37 degrees.   I was euphoric!  Despite the national alert for sunstroke and UV rays in Victoria (bushfires everywhere and the city was enveloped by smokes!!!),  I gleefully went around in my cargo pants,  bond’s singlet, and thongs.

Did not even bother putting on some sunscreen protection.  First time on a weekend that we have this hot hot weather.  I was transported in the Philippines.

So Ala Pinoy style,  I shopped with an open body-mind-soul, in an open Sunday market for almost two hours finding the right gifts for friends and enemies - unperturbed by the oven like heat of the sun!  A woman market seller asked me whether I was not feeling burnt at all looking at my happy face, since most Aussies were really festered and flustered and could not stand the blazing heatwave.  I wickedly said ”No, I love love love this heat!!!”, like I was a demon from hell.

I was having my revenge againts the cold Melbourne weather, and it feels sooo good!  I was thinking,  by this time tomorrow I will have a beautiful brown tan to be envied by people at work.  Not like the fake  tan I used to spray and turns me orange!

Last night, I felt the pain of a first degree burn in my arms, shoulders and upper back. It is scalding.   I have forgotten how this burning pain feels like.  The red burnt soft skin that is so painful when touched.  Call me masochistic, but honestly, I like this sweet burning pain!  Like being slowly roasted alive on a burning charcoal -  a pig on a roast pit!   The oil of your skin pouring out!  A very catarthic feeling!  Yes!  But I am beginning to feel really hot, hot, hot!  My breath is hot!

And suddenly I wanted to lick a galloon of ice cream and gulp a liter of icy cold coke. I was really hot and I ran towards the cold icy fresh breeze of an air conditioned room.   I’ve never ever liked being cold until yesterday.

Burning skin against freezing cold air.  It is a wonderful state of being alive!

Lucky it is cold again today!  :)

BLOG AS IF NO ONE’S READING!

6 12 2006

After deciding to stop writing about my early experiences on coming out, (as there are a lot of emotions involved in bringing the dead back to life), I began to ask myself,  why I am blogging in the first place?  Isn’t it supposed to be a cathartic experience or a therapy, a process of crystalizing your thoughts,  reflections on life.

I start writing about something and then I stop and think that it is not entertainjning enough or my blog reader/friends would not find it interesting.  I have been writing more to please or antagonize my readers or prospective readers.  Fair enough!  And this leads me to care too much about what I write!  Too much self editing!  And it is not fun anymore.

I remember on my first months of blogging that I was just careless and it was more fun …  and the thrill and excitement of blogging was there.  And that is why I continued blogging.  But then there is a blogger’s trap!

Of course there are a hundred and one reasons why we blog.  And it is to each his own.  To each his need.   I have incorporated a lot of purposes and even adapted a mission in my blog – and I think I am trapped into this complexities.   As complicated as my personality.

So I decided to change my point of view – to enjoy writing more and publishing your entry – even if is the most irrelevant, weird, hallow, boring and nonsensical post in the blogger’s world.   And please I would not even care about grammar, tenses and spelling.

I have to remember owning my blog.

LIke dancing as if no one is watching,  I remember blogging as if no one is really reading.

Makes more sense to me :)

MAKE RELIGION HISTORY!

13 11 2006

This Friday, there will be a concert in Melbourne’s Myer’s Bowl for the “MAKE POVERTY HISTORY” cause.  And I thought,  they should really go further and also start a movement to “MAKE RELIGION HISTORY” as religion is the mother of poverty!

Religion is an old way that has clearly damaged people’s lives.

  • RELIGION PERPETUATES WORLD POVERTY.  The Philippines is a living proof of how the Catholic Religion has infiltrated the psyche and the culture of the people imprisoning their minds into a faith that is moved by FEAR AND GUILT.

   dsc_0065ccc_1.jpg

Religion has forbidden people from growing into more responsible parents (i.e. by exercising birth control),  to be realistic and successful entrepreneurs  (starting their businesses and not just hoping and praying for miracles to happen or some charity!).  And worst of all religion discourages individuals from accepting and embracing the totality and uniquess of a human being (gay, lesbians, etc).  The Catholic religion, as an organized business that controls and manipulates peoples’ lives through their faith has conquered and ruled the country, moulding and converting it’s people into unthinking, superstitious, judgemental, self righteous, close-minded and fearful individuals living in poverty.

  • RELIGION CRUCIFIES THE PAST, FORGETS LIVING TODAY, AND PROMISES BETTER LIVES IN AN AFTER DEATH FUTURE PARADISE.   This is the premise that outlines people from thinking that life here on earth is temporary and therefore whatever worldly success or wealth one achieves are all useless and worthless in the face of God or their religion.  I have a friend who after becoming a very religious and almost fanatical person, said that there is no need for him to build a house for his family because in the end God will take all of it.   I cannot believe how religion has turned him into a truly blind person and making people believe of a God who punishes people.  Religion breeds fear.  This is why I see a lot of talented and bright people who chose a life of non-achievement and poverty.  For they believe that the kingdom of God is theirs when they are poor.

  • RELIGION (AS A CULT) MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE CAUSES WAR.  The 9/11 event is just a minor example of a world gone mad due to religious war.

  • RELIGION FUELS ANTI-GAY DISCRIMINATION AND OTHER FORMS OF BIAS, says pop singer Elton John.  And I personally experienced that it even permeates into family relationship breeding contempt, hate, and thus causing a great divide.   I have met a lot of gay guys that have been cut off from their family ties forever due to religion.   It promotes hatred and spite against gays, despite the fact that most of the people that work in the churches and crucifies lesbians and gays (into eternal damnation) are practicing homosexuals themselves!  The sad thing is – they are very good in condemning homosexuality!
